Rugby 7s – also known as Rugby Sevens or Sevens – is one of the two rugby variants played all around the world. Named after the number of players, seven per team, it is played on a grass court.
The dimensions of the pitch are 94-100 meters long and 68-70 meters wide. The aim of the game is to drop the ball in the opposing try zone. A try scorin team receives 5 points as well as the opportunity to score 2 additional more points by kicking the ball through the goal posts.
Each game consists of two seven-minute halves. It is played as a tournament with several temas, so that the spectators can see each team several times a day.
Without volunteers, the Oktoberfest 7s could not be run because many helping hands are needed during the tournament and the days before – from setting up Olympic Stadium to suppporting the teams.
The invitation to apply for the Volunteer Program and the application form is available in the volunteer area⇒.
